Ulysees O. Wingo, Sr.
Ulysees O. Wingo, Sr. (Democratic Party) was a member of the Buffalo Common Council in New York, representing Masten District. He assumed office in 2015. He left office on December 31, 2023.
Wingo (Democratic Party) ran for re-election to the Buffalo Common Council to represent Masten District in New York. He won in the general election on November 5, 2019.
Wingo was appointed as a council member serving the Masten District of the Buffalo Common Council in New York. He was appointed by the council on September 11, 2015, to fill out the term of Demone A. Smith, who resigned to become the Director of the Buffalo Employment Training Center.[1] He was elected to a full term in November 2015.
Biography
Wingo is from the Masten District of Buffalo, New York. He received a bachelor's degree in management from Houghton College and a master's degree in public administration from Buffalo State College. His career experience includes working as the Byrne Criminal Justice Innovation Program Coordinator at Buffalo Promise Neighborhood (BPN), director of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Buffalo, youth minister at Faith Baptist Church, and pastor for Antioch Baptist Church.[2][3][4]

The city of Buffalo, New York, held elections for city council on November 3, 2015. A primary election took place on September 10, 2015. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was July 23, 2015.[5] In the Masten District race, Ulysees O. Wingo, Sr. defeated Lamone Gibson and Sharon M. Belton-Cottman in the Democratic primary.[6] Wingo defeated Michael A. Woolford (Constitution Party) in the general election.[7] Yvette Suarez (D) also filed to run but she was removed from the ballot in early August.[8]
