Biography

Lineweaver was born in California while his father was stationed there with the Navy, but he moved to Bellevue at a young age and attended Bellevue High School. He went on to take various classes at Columbia State Community College and the University of Tennessee.[1]

Lineweaver's family started Bellevue Patrol in 1976, and in 1983 Lineweaver was elected to serve on the Metro Council. He was later elected juvenile court clerk, a position he held for nine years.[1]

Campaign themes

2015

Lineweaver's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[2]

Police and safety

  • Excerpt: "Bellevue has always been safe place to live, but when there are issues we need to know that Metro Police can respond quickly. Having worked in the security business for much of my life, I understand how important having a strong police presence is."

Education

  • Excerpt: "I attended neighborhood schools including Harpeth Valley Elementary School and Bellevue High School. We fought hard to keep Bellevue High School, my alma mater. Even though we lost, we fought a hard fight and I will fight just as hard to get a new Bellevue High School. Neighborhood schools and parental involvement are crucial to a successful education system."

Infrastructure

  • Excerpt: "A solid infrastructure is key to both the growth and safety of the Nashville community. Specifically, our infrastructure must be broadly based to include not only the interstate highways and local access roads, but also focus on items such as guard rails for those roads at high risk, as well traffic and congestion (especially in district 35th given the rapid rate of new development in the community). Most importantly, we must establish 'safe passage' on all roadways in the district to ensure our children are safe both on the way to, and from school each day."

Growth

  • Excerpt: "It is essential to get input from the community through neighborhood meeting so that the 35th District maintains its unique qualities. We need to support our existing businesses to help them stay successful and bring in new businesses that will enhance the community while addressing the infrastructure necessary to keep things moving smoothly."

Budget and taxes

  • Excerpt: "Nashville’s budget has been strained and we need to make decisions on growth and new projects carefully by considering all sides of the issues including risks and advantages. Spending our tax dollars wisely and efficiently is essential."
