Campaign themes

2015

Clift provided the following statements on his campaign website:

I'm proud of what we have accomplished during my first term as a Hillsboro School Board Director. During budgetary downturns, we have kept a laser-focus on our District Mission Statement, to "Engage and challenge all learners to ensure academic excellence", spending our limited resources most efficiently to achieve this outcome. And in years of budget "growth", we have judiciously re-invested in our staff, facilities, technology, and curriculum to deliver a new and exciting education experience for all students.

Here are just a few of the things I've been excited to be a part of:

  • Redefine our Chancellor's Diploma Graduation Requirements, providing greater access for all students while demanding increased rigor and subject mastery.
  • Formalized Superintendent Evaluation process, for better feedback and accountability to District performance
  • New STEM and Arts investments across all District schools
  • Encouraged teacher-driven assessments of new technology and teaching methods
  • New High School Online Math Curriculum, partnered with Tech-enhanced classroom
  • Successful School-Based Health Center
  • Opening of Hillsboro Online Academy
  • Among the best graduation rates in Oregon

I'm excited to return to the Hillsboro School Board and continue the work.

As a returning Hillsboro School Board Director, I re-affirm my promise:'

  • I will be fair, unbiased, and active in discussion of all issues.
  • I will personally engage in gathering input from administration, teachers, and community.
  • I will be fiscally responsible with our education tax dollars, and ask the crucial questions that will ensure funds are spent wisely.
  • I will support our Teachers, as the driving force behind educational reform.
  • I will ensure a continued emphasis on educational excellence.
  • I will bring the skill set to address budget driven changes with the minimal impact on the education of our children.[4]
