Valerie P. Cooke was a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the District of Nevada. She was appointed to this position in 1999 and served until 2018.[1][2]
Education
Judge Cooke received her B.A. degree in English from the University of Nevada, Reno and her J.D. degree from the Northwestern School of Law of Lewis and Clark College.[1]
Career
Judge Cooke was a partner in the law firm McDonald, Carano, Wilson, McCune, Bergin, Frankovich & Hicks LLP until she was appointed to the U.S. District Court in 1999. She also served as the vice-chair of the Nevada Tax Commission from 1995 to 1999 and a member of the Nevada Judicial Discipline Commission from 1997 to 1999.[1]
