Vidal Rodriguez won the special election for District 2 of the Laredo City Council. The runoff to the special election was on April 2, 2016, where Rodriguez defeated Jose Perez III with 53 percent of the vote.[1] The initial election occurred on February 13, 2016, with a field of five candidates.
The city held a special election due to the resignation of Esteban Rangel, who decided to run for the Webb County Commission.[2]
