James Jones was a Democratic candidate for governor of Maryland in the 2018 election. He was defeated by Ben Jealous (D) in the Democratic primary.[1]

Maryland held elections for governor and lieutenant governor in 2018. A primary election took place on June 26, 2018. The general election was held on November 6, 2018. The filing deadline for candidates wishing to participate in the primary elections was February 27, 2018. Incumbent Larry Hogan and Boyd Rutherford (R), Ben Jealous and Susan Turnbull (D), Ian Schlakman and Annie Chambers (Green Party), and Shawn Quinn and Christina Smith (Libertarian) are running in the election for governor and lieutenant governor of Maryland.
