Patty Kahanamoku-Teruya ran for election for an at-large seat of the Office of Hawaiian Affairs. She lost in the primary on August 10, 2024.
Biography
Patty Kahanamoku Teruya is from Honolulu, Hawaii, and lives in Nanakuli, Hawaii. Teruya attended Sweetwater High School and Farrington High School, and attended Honolulu Community College and San Diego State University. Her career experience includes working as a legislative aide for Hawaiian State Senator Mike Gabbard, president at Waianae Coast Community Foundation, and working at family business New Eagle Cafe. Kahanamoku-Teruya was appointed commissioner for Oahu at the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands, and was elected Nanakuli-Maili Neighborhood Board Chair in 1994.[1]
