Devon Tennant (Republican Party) is running for election to the West Virginia House of Delegates to represent District 7. He declared candidacy for the Republican primary scheduled on May 12, 2026.[source]

Biography

Devon Tennant was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia. He graduated from Magnolia High School.[1] Tennant was mentored by former Delegate David Pethtel.[2]

As of January 2024, Tennant was studying political science at Bethany College West Virginia.[2]

I'm Devon Tennant a lifelong resident of Wetzel County. I am a current candidate for the seventh district of the West Virginia House of Delegates. I am the son of a current West Virginia public employee and a former West Virginia coal miner, and the grandson of a current nurse and a former DOH employee. The reason I am seeking this office is because I have a passion for leadership and public service. I would like to help the working people and families of Wetzel and Marshall counties by using my voice and determination if elected to the legislature. I have two years of political experience and many years of public service experience. I was mentored by former Democratic Delegate from Wetzel County David Pethtel of the former 5th district, where I learned the workings of the West Virginia state Legislature. I am also a member of the Wetzel Tyler Chamber of Commerce and Deacon at the Proctor christian church (Disciples of christ). I am a Former member of the New Martinsville City Council I was Youth Councilman from March 7th, 2022 - May 25th 2023. I have previously worked on two state campaigns for the state House and Senate. I'm a current student at Bethany College studying political science.
  • A voice for Working people & Families, I will work to increase the state minimum wage and make family, medical leave available. I stand with all working West virginians to have good jobs and make a livable wage for their families.
  • Friend of Public Education, I Support all public educators and school staff in Wetzel and Marshall counties. Education is important for our children's future and to West Virginia. An educated workforce brings additional job opportunities to our area. I understand and will push for the reinvestment of our public schools, and funding the promise scholarship.
  • Improving Infrastructure,I will work to ensure fair funding for infrastructure repair projects for Wetzel and Marshall counties, including secondary road repair, safe bridges, and clean water for all of the 7th District.
The rights of working people, Affordable and quality health care, improving public education, improving infrastructure, and job creation
Former U.S. Democratic Senator from the Hills of West Virginia Robert C. Byrd, Sen. Byrd did many great things for my state of West Virginia and never thought himself to good for the state where he came from. Byrd was a noble scholar of constitutional law and considered the dean of the Senate. He dedicated his life to serving his country and state for over 50 years. never forget his commitment to the people of West Virginia, his dedication to the Constitution, and his unwavering belief in the American dream. During his time in office, he was a fierce advocate for the people of West Virginia, and he worked tirelessly to improve the lives of his constituents.
Having good morals, caring about the people they represent, Grit and determination, the ability to compromise, and Honesty, are just a few.
I am youngman the has spent many hours and days' studying government and talking to current and former officeholders. I have good public speaking skills, I am a upstanding member of my community and well liked by many, I listen to everyone's opinion before asserting mine, and very knowledgeable of the office I am running for.

Yes, in order to be respected and gain support you must respect your colleagues, if not you become virtually powerless making you an ineffective member of government.
