An attorney by trade, Maye practiced at the law firm of Locke Lord LLP, focusing on consumer finance litigation. As of April 2013, Maye was the chair of the Collegiate Transition Taskforce of the National Executive Board of Delta Sigma Theta and was a member of the founding board of directors of the Great Lakes Academy Proposed Charter School.[3]

Maye served as a member of the Illinois Commerce Commission from February 2013 to December 2017.[1][2]

Appointments

Maye was appointed to the Illinois Commerce Commission by Gov. Pat Quinn (D) on February 25, 2013. She replaced outgoing commissioner Erin O'Connell-Diaz. Quinn's spokeswoman stated, "Ms. Maye is a well-qualified attorney with a commitment to the public interest. Her legal expertise, training, and community experience will make her a strong commissioner."[1]
