Jack Vitale

Jack Vitale was the chief judge of the 1st District Court and 38th Circuit Court in Michigan. He was elected to the district court on November 3, 1998, and began his judicial duties on January 1, 1999.[1]
In October 2013, Vitale was appointed chief judge of the two courts. He began serving in that capacity in January of the following year.[2]
Education
Vitale received his undergraduate degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, in 1968 and his J.D. from the University of Toledo College of Law in 1972.[1][3]

2016
Michigan held general elections for local judicial offices on November 8, 2016. A primary election occurred on August 2, 2016. The candidate filing deadline for incumbents was March 21, and the deadline for non-incumbents was April 19.[4] Incumbent Jack Vitale ran unopposed in the 1st District general election.[5]

Judge Vitale was re-elected to the 1st District Court without opposition in the general election on November 2, 2010.[6]

Judges of the Michigan District Courts are each elected to six-year terms.[7] The elections for this court are nonpartisan contested elections. To serve on this court, a judge must be a qualified elector of the district, licensed to practice law in the state, under the age of 70, and have five years of experience practicing law.
