Larry S. Schachner was a justice of the Bronx County Supreme Court (12th Judicial District) in New York. He was elected in 2014. He retired on May 30, 2017.[1][2]

Schachner was previously a judge for the New York City Civil Court, Bronx County from 2004 to 2013. He also served as an acting justice of the Bronx County Supreme Court (12th Judicial District) from 2007 to 2013.[1][3][4][5]

Education

Schachner received his B.A. degree from Columbia University and his J.D. degree from the New York University School of Law.[1]

Career

Schachner began his career as a principal law clerk for Supreme Court Justice Howard Silver. In 1999, he was appointed to the Housing Court of the New York City Civil Court. He became a judge of the Civil Court in Bronx County in 2004.[1][3][4]

Elections

2013

Schachner ran for election to the Supreme Court 12th Judicial District.
General: He was defeated in the general election on November 5, 2013, after receiving 20.1 percent of the vote. Laura G. Douglas, Kevin P. Kuehner, Julia I. Rodriguez, Norma Ruiz, Robert D. Siano and John H. Wilson were also on the ballot, competing for three open seats.[6][7][8]
