Ben Thomas (Nonpartisan) was the Montana Director of Agriculture. He was appointed by Gov. Steve Bullock (D) on January 6, 2017, and served until the end of the term on January 4, 2021.[1]

Biography

Thomas was born near Morton, Texas, and raised on a cotton and peanut farm. Prior to his appointment as Director of Agriculture, Thomas was Deputy Under Secretary for the Marketing and Regulatory Programs Mission Area in the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He previously worked in the Department of Agriculture and as a legislative staffer and counsel for U.S. Sens. Max Baucus (D-Mont.) and John Walsh (D-Mont.).[1][2]

Gov. Steve Bullock (D) appointed Thomas as Montana Director of Agriculture on January 6, 2017, a position he held until the end of his term on January 4, 2021.[1] He was preceded by Ron de Yong (NP) and succeeded by Mike Foster (NP).
