The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was April 11, 2014. Joseph Silk defeated Brent Shain in the Republican primary, while Curtis McDaniel was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Silk defeated McDaniel in the general election.[1][2][3]
