Kazmerzak ran in the 2012 election for South Dakota House of Representatives District 22. Kazmerzak was defeated by Dale Hargens and incumbent Peggy Anne Gibson in the Democratic primary on June 5. Jay B.K. Slater and Dick Werner defeated David McGirr in the Republican primary. The general election took place on November 6, 2012. Incumbent Jim White (R) did not run for re-election.[1][2]
