2016

Sanford's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Getting People Involved Early

  • I believe we need lawmakers to look for solutions from the perspective of a parent, student, school teacher, commuter, industry leader, patient, and health care provider.

Education

  • We must keep the goal of education in mind…our goal is to produce graduates who are prepared for a changing world made up of employers with high expectations of its workforce and with little empathy for attitudes of entitlement. The future is exciting when our children are prepared for it.

Healthcare

  • We have created the most advanced health care system in the world, through innovation and new technology development. Frankly, “Obamacare” stalled some of the most innovative insurance programs in the country for which Minnesota was a recognized leader.

Transportation

  • Taxes, fees, and licenses generated or related to the sale of vehicles, parts and fuel should be dedicated to roads and bridges. Prioritizing LRT (Light Rail Transit) above roads and bridges is a total misallocation of our resources for a multitude of reasons.

Taxation

  • Our free market system would not function without our government’s protection of our inalienable rights, perfectly described in our Declaration of Independence and codified succinctly in the Bill of Rights of our U.S. Constitution. Taxes are required…no one denies that basic fact.[6]
