As a dedicated mother and grandmother I have always encouraged my children to use their voice, stand up for what they believe in, and to do the right thing. We have always spoken openly about politics, human rights and the importance of voting in every election. When the SCOTUS leak about the overruling of Roe and Casey came out, we began having a series of conversations about how we can get more involved and get more women into office to be our voice. It was my youngest, my 10 year old son, the only one not yet an adult, who looked at me and asked me “Why do you need someone else to be your voice when you have your own? You can change things too”!

We need someone who can reach across both sides and come up with solutions for everyone.

I currently work for a company that makes virtual reality training games for the Air Force. Listening to people and understanding their needs and problems is the key part of my role as a Program Manager. My passion is gathering information, proposing solutions and driving plans to solve problems. These skills will make me a successful Representative for the 19th District. My commitment will stand as always listening to the people on both sides and considering the facts around each decision. My mission is to serve everyone I represent and use my voice to amplify yours.

  • A woman’s right to have access to abortion must be protected at every level. A woman’s private decision regarding abortion has to be her decision alone under any circumstances. The trigger laws taking place across our country are terrifying. Abortion is a matter of a woman’s health and should not be regulated. We must provide funding for Planned Parenthood and the very important work they do in all areas of reproductive health care. We must put laws in place at the State and Federal level to protect this sacred right.
  • We need to address school shootings. This must be a multi faceted approach. We need reasonable, smart gun control legislation, but it does not end there. We need better access to mental healthcare for both children and adults. We need to fund and secure our schools without making students feel like they are in a prison. We need crisis training for our teachers who did not sign up to work in a war zone. Teachers should feel as safe as the children that are there to learn. I believe the 2nd Amendment must be protected, but I do think more needs to be done to keep weapons out of the hands of dangerous people and any restrictions or regulations must be well defined and with measurable effect.
  • Mental Health Care We need better access to mental health care for children. Bullying and depression are epidemics in this country and our children are paying the price. If you have had to try to get mental health care for a child, you know how difficult it is. Mental health should be treated just like any other health care need. We need funding to encourage more providers and establish programs to encourage more in the field. We also need to have access to mental health professionals in our schools.
Affordable Housing

We need to stop allowing corporations to come in and buy out entire neighborhoods for cash and push hardworking families out of the market. We need to innovate to build faster and lower costs and cut down on some of the regulatory barriers. Landowners should be able to build additional ADU’s if they have the space without restrictions of one per property. We also need programs to help new buyers qualify for and obtain mortgages.

Crime

We need more behavioral intervention programs that help young people on a bad path get back on track and provide educational programs that provide more opportunity in the workforce. We also need accessible programs for addiction and alcoholism.

Climate Change and Energy / Forest and river Preservation

We need to protect our resources and find better ways to prevent climate change and encourage the use of renewable energy. We need to make solar systems more accessible.

LGBTQ

LGBTQ rights are human rights and must be treated as such. Anyone in this country should be free to marry whom they choose without prejudice or repercussions.
Malala Yousafzai, who stood up to the Taliban and has spent the rest of her life encouraging and promoting access to education for women. She is brave and outspoken and effective, just like I will be.
Honesty, integrity and a passion to help their communities grow.

The Space Shuttle Challenger Disaster is the first thing I remember historically. I was 17 and watching with the rest of my school.
I was a dancer at Six Flags for about a year.
Washington's greatest challenges over the next decade will be climate change and affordable, equitable housing.
Yes, compromise is necessary and desirable whenever possible, but there are certain issues like human rights that are not negotiable.
