Is there anything you would like to add?

Chauntyll Allen was born and raised in the historic Rondo district and continues to live in St. Paul. She is a proud graduate of Central High School and is completing a BA in African American studies and Psychology at Metro State University. She works as a paraprofessional at Como Park Senior High School. Over the past 25 years, she has worked in various capacities as an advocate and organizer, including 10 years at Hennepin County in a high crisis facility for child protection, a community leader for Black Lives Matter, and an educational assistant and basketball coach in St. Paul Public Schools. Chauntyll is pleased to have earned many endorsements, including the St. Paul DFL, the St. Paul Federation of Educators, ASFCME Council 5, the DFL African American Caucus, the Stonewall DFL, Women Winning, and the Victory Fund, among others.

Allen is running to build a school to success pipeline that will address Minnesota’s racial disparities, including the achievement gap that persists in our schools by:

  • Creating safe environments for students where they can learn in trauma-free settings and that incorporate restorative practices
  • Expanding community full-service schools to provide wrap-around services such as healthcare, clothing, hygiene facilities, short-term beds, food, and other social services.
  • Increasing employment opportunities for graduates by bringing trades back into curriculum offerings.
  • Enhancing culturally specific curricula and schools
