In a post to his Facebook group, Rumph said, "I entered this race to impact the Heights' and Montana's future. I really believe in Montana and trust hardworking Montanans to elect candidates that will positively shape our future: our education, our health care, and our economy."[1]

Rumph ran in the 2012 election for Montana House of Representatives, District 47. Rumph ran unopposed in the June 5 primary election and was defeated by Daniel Zolnikov (R) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[2][3]
