David Floyd (b. October 2, 1951) is a former Republican member of the Kentucky House of Representatives, representing District 50 from 2005 to 2017. He served as Minority Whip.

Floyd initially filed in 2016, but withdrew his re-election bid.[1]

Floyd's professional experience includes working as the President of Windsor Gardens Retirement Communities. He served as an Operations Officer in the United States Air Force from 1973-1995.

Elections for the Kentucky House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election took place on May 20, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was January 28, 2014. Audrey Haydon ran unopposed in the Democratic primary, while incumbent David Floyd ran unopposed in the Republican primary. Floyd defeated Haydon in the general election.[6][7][8]

Floyd won re-election in the 2012 election for Kentucky House of Representatives District 50. He defeated Donna A. Pegago in the Republican primary on May 22, 2012, and defeated Dick Heaton (D) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[9][10]

Floyd's opponent in the November 2 general election was Democratic candidate Eddie O'Daniel. According to official results, Floyd defeated O'Daniel by a margin of 10,325 to 5,953.[11]

Floyd ran unopposed in the May 18 Republican primary election.[12][13]

2008

On November 4, 2008, Floyd was re-elected to the 50th District Seat in the Kentucky House of Representatives with no opposition.[14] He raised $114,973 for his campaign.[15]

Floyd and his wife Cheri have two children.[16] He is a Deacon at Bardstown Baptist Church, and a member of the American Legion, Optimist Club, Rotary Club, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).[17]
