Debi Rose (Democratic Party) was a member of the New York City Council, representing District 49. Rose assumed office in 2010. Rose left office on December 31, 2021.

Rose earned an undergraduate degree in American history from Hofstra University.[1]

Rose's professional experience includes work as a children's supervisor for the New York State Division of Youth, as the executive director of the College of Staten Island's Liberty Partnership Program, and in various roles for the New York Urban League, the National Council of Negro Women, the Department of Transportation, and Sea View Hospital and Home. She has served as a presidential delegate for Barack Obama, a co-founder of the Coalition to Save Bayley Seton Hospital, the chair of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Committee, the president of the Staten Island African-American Political Association, and a member of Community Board One and the New York City Board of Education's Community School Board.[1]

New York City held elections for mayor, public advocate, comptroller, and all 51 seats on the city council in 2017. New Yorkers also voted for offices in their boroughs: The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island.

Primary elections were scheduled for September 12, 2017, and the general election was on November 7, 2017. Under New York law, candidates who run unopposed in a primary or general election win the nomination or election automatically, and their names do not appear on the ballot.[2] Incumbent Debi Rose (D) defeated Michael Penrose (R) and Kamillah Hanks (Reform) in the general election for the District 49 seat on the New York City Council.
