Elisa Murphy was a judge for District 1 of the Hamilton County Municipal Court in Ohio. Murphy assumed office on September 23, 2019. Murphy left office in 2019.
Murphy ran in a special election for the District 1 judge of the Hamilton County Municipal Court in Ohio. Murphy lost in the special general election on November 5, 2019.
Murphy was appointed by Governor Mike DeWine on September 23, 2019, to fill a vacancy following the resignation of former District 1 judge Fanon Rucker. Murphy ran to retain the seat in the special election for Rucker's unexpired term ending on January 2, 2024.[1][2]
Murphy was a nonpartisan candidate for District 2 judge on the Hamilton County Municipal Court in Ohio. Murphy was defeated in the general election on November 7, 2017.
Biography
Elisa Murphy earned a bachelor's degree in operations management and supervision from Purdue University, and a J.D. from the University of Akron School of Law. Her career experience includes working as an attorney, a magistrate, and as a judge.[3]

Note: The special election was held for the remainder of the unexpired term of former District 1 judge Fanon Rucker ending on January 2, 2024. Elisa Murphy was appointed on September 23, 2019 by Governor Mike DeWine to fill the vacancy but had to run in the special election to retain the seat.[4][5]

The judges of the Ohio Municipal Courts are each elected to six-year terms. The elections for this court are nonpartisan contested elections with partisan primaries. To serve on this court, a judge must be a resident of the municipality, licensed in the state, and practice law for six years or serve as a judge of court of record.[8]
