James S. Gallas was a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. He was appointed to this position on July 1, 1991[1] and retired on August 10, 2008.[2]
Education
Judge Gallas received his B.A. degree from Bethany College and his L.L.B. degree from Cleveland Marshall Law School.[1]
Career
Judge Gallas began his career as an Assistant Attorney General specializing in workers compensation and inheritance tax litigation. In 1971, he joined the law firm Miller, Heiser, Miller & Gallas. He then worked as the Clerk of the Court for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio from 1977 until he was appointed to this court in 1991.[1]
