The city of Long Beach, California, held a special election for city council on April 14, 2015. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was January 16, 2015.[1] The city held the election to fill the District 4 seat of former council member Patrick O'Donnell, who won election to the California State Assembly in 2014.[2]

The winner of this election served a term that expired in 2016. Herlinda Chico was endorsed by both Mayor Robert Garcia and Patrick O'Donnell.[3][4] In numbers published at the beginning of March, Chico also outraised her opponents, collecting $35,000 in contributions to Daryl Supernaw's $11,135. Richard Lindemann stated that he did not accept donations and instead spent $750 of his own money to run.[5]
