Marcella King-Ben
Marcella King-Ben is a former candidate for the Eleventh Judicial District Court in New Mexico.[1] She was defeated in the general election on November 8, 2016.

New Mexico held general elections for local judicial offices on November 8, 2016. A primary election took place on June 7, 2016. The filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 8, 2016.[2] Incumbent Lyndy Dean Bennett defeated Marcella King-Ben in the New Mexico 11th District Court general election for Division 5.[1]

Selection method

The 84 judges of the New Mexico District Courts are selected in partisan elections to six-year terms. They must compete in yes-no retention elections if they wish to serve subsequent terms.[3]
The process of chief judge selection varies by district, as does the chief judge's term length.[3]
Qualifications
To serve on this court, a judge must:[3]
- be the minimum age of 35;
- have at least six years legal practice;
- be a state resident for at least three years; and
- be a district resident.
