Federal lawsuit against Judge Bringer
On September 21, 2011, Judge Medler dismissed a federal lawsuit brought against Circuit Judge Rachel L. Bringer, of the Missouri 10th Judicial Circuit Court. The lawsuit was filed by Lynn Helbing, a court secretary for the 10th Circuit Court, after she was fired while on medical leave in February. Helbing had been a secretary to the court for 20 years before she was fired by Judge Bringer, who, according to Helbing, constantly berated her after taking the bench in December of 2010. The alleged abuse caused Helbing to take the medical leave, during which, she was fired. Helbing has appealed the dismissal to the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.[3]
