Patti Meier was a 2016 Republican candidate for District 44B of the Minnesota House of Representatives.

Meier's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Good Jobs That Help Grow Our Economy
Patti will work to create a business and job creation climate that expands our economy and creates good jobs with good wages through:
- Encouraging investment in small business start-ups via the angel investor program
- Expanding research and development tax credits
- Eliminating job-killing regulations and government red tape
- Reducing and reforming state taxes; phasing out the business property tax
- Increasing health insurance flexibility for small businesses
Put Kids, Parents and Teachers First in Education
- Patti knows schools in the Hopkins, Minnetonka and Wayzata school districts are among the best in the state. Patti’s *education goals include:
- Equitable, reliable funding for schools in the western suburbs
- Strong support for public, private, charter, religious and homeschool options
- Reduce unnecessary state-imposed “one size fits all” K-12 mandates on school districts
- Keep control of our schools in the hands of parents, teachers and local school boards
Efficient and Effective Government
- Patti believes government is too big and tries to do too many things, often with poor results. That’s why she will lead legislative efforts to undertake a top-to-bottom audit of state government. Programs that deliver measurable results will be preserved, and enhanced if necessary. Those that cannot show results will be ended and receive no future funding. Patti will work with her counterparts on both sides of the political aisle to bring an accountable new direction to our state.
Tax Reform that Helps Middle Class Families
- Minnesota ranks 46 out of 50 states in the fairness of our individual income tax system. (Source: Tax Foundation 2016 State Business Tax Climate Index, www.taxfoundation.org) That’s not right. When state government has a near billion dollar surplus caused by a $2 billion tax increase, Patti believes it’s time for a responsible tax cut for Minnesota families and small business owners. Patti supports efforts to reform taxes to spur investment and savings. Patti understands Minnesota’s quality of life requires investments in education, health care, transportation and the environment, but over-taxation or poorly designed tax policy serves to hurt middle class families and hinder job growth.
Transportation
- Funding our roads and bridges is one of the few things explicitly spelled out in our Minnesota constitution (Article 14). That is why Patti believes Minnesota needs to invest in its road and bridge infrastructure and that these investments can be made without a destructive gas tax increase. Patti’s plan would dedicate taxes we already pay for rental cars; auto repairs and the purchase of auto parts to roads and bridge construction, Over 30 states already dedicate these dollars to transportation. If lawmakers were to adopt this common sense reform, along with using a portion of the budget surplus as well as selling trunk highway bonds, Minnesota could dedicate as much as $6 billion to transportation over the next 10 years.[1]
