I have been a teacher for 18 years. I currently work in Crowley ISD and serve as the Teacher Development and Student Intervention Specialist over Math & Science. Prior to working in Crowley, I taught in Fort Worth ISD at Dunbar High School where I was recognized as the Campus Teacher of the Year and a top finalist for District Teacher of the Year. I served as the Math Department Chair, Senior Class Sponsor, after-school tutoring and attendance recovery coordinator, and a member of the Site Based Decision Committee. At the district level, I served on the Superintendent's Advisory Council and had been part of the District Math Department Curriculum Cadre. I assisted in writing curriculum and assessments as well as leading professional development for various math content. In addition, I mentored aspiring teachers through the University of Texas Arlington UTEACH program. I am a single mom who raised my son while putting myself through college. I earned my Associate of Arts degree through Tarrant County College before transferring to Texas Woman's University where I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. In 2022, I completed my Master of Education in Teacher Leadership with an emphasis on Curriculum and Instruction at Lamar University. I am currently working towards my Principal Certification through Lamar University.
  • I have been an educator for 18 years. I know firsthand what the needs of our students are. I’m committed to ensuring we provide a safe and inclusive learning environment for all our children.
  • I have a Master of Education in Teacher Leadership with an emphasis on curriculum and instruction. My experience and education qualify me to make critical decisions in selecting curriculum and instructional resources. We need quality instructional resources that will help bridge the learning gaps while continuing to advance learning. Quality resources will benefit our educators and more importantly, our children.
  • I will advocate to remove STAAR EOC tests as a graduation requirement. When students are promoted to the next grade level in 5th and 8th grades, even when they haven't been successful on STAAR, we are penalizing the student by expecting them to pass to graduate. I would propose graduation pathways for students who earn trade certifications, join the military, or choose to attend college after graduation.
The issue I am most passionate about is changing the graduation requirements. While I am not opposed to the STAAR testing for data purposes, I do not believe it should be used as a requirement for graduation and would advocate for removing the STAAR EOC as a requirement for graduation and offering graduation pathways.
I love Ruth Bader Ginsburg. I have a poster of some of her quotes hanging in my office. One of my favorite quotes of hers is, “I would like to be remembered as someone who used whatever talent she had to do her work to the very best of her ability." ~ Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
I’m very passionate about education and doing what’s best for our kids. I have always, and will continue to advocate for children. I am very persistent and I’m willing to work with my colleagues to find solutions to ensure we are making the best decisions that will lead to student success.
Again, I refer to my favorite quote, “I would like to be remembered as someone who used whatever talent she had to do her work to the very best of her ability.” I just want to be remembered for being someone who did everything in power to make a difference in the lives of our children.
I remember Mount St. Helens erupting in 1980. I was 4 years old at the time and I lived in Montana. I remember I couldn’t go outside and play and it was dark and there was ash everywhere.
TJ Maxx I worked there in high school.
I was a single mom and put myself through college. It wasn’t always easy but I always found a way. Looking back at those years, I realize now how strong it made me as a mom and as an educator.
I think it’s absolutely imperative to remember that the purpose of the State Board of Education is EDUCATION! The students should always be considered in any conversations or votes. The SBOE members should speak on behalf of the stakeholders in the community they represent and not on their own personal believes and opinions.

Campaign website

Rayna Glasser's campaign website stated the following:[2]

What is SBOE [State Board of Education] (My Educational Priorities)

  • Setting curriculum standards (Ensuring our students are prepared for the global workforce upon graduation.)
  • Reviewing and adopting instructional materials (Providing rigorous and relevant curriculum for all students. Also ensuring we address the learning gaps caused by COVID. Many students fell behind, yet we promoted them and they lack the foundational skills from previous grade levels to be successful in their current grade.)
  • Establishing graduation requirements (Advocating to remove STAAR EOC tests as a graduation requirement. When students are promoted to the next grade level in 5th and 8th grades, even when they haven't been successful on STAAR, we are penalizing the student by expecting them to pass to graduate.)
  • Overseeing the Texas Permanent School Fund
  • Appointing board members to military reservation and special school districts
  • Providing final review of rules proposed by the State Board for Educator Certification
  • Reviewing the commissioner's proposed award of new charter schools with authority to veto a recommended applicant[3]
