Richard L. Clifford
Richard L. Clifford was a justice for the New Jersey Supreme Court. He was appointed to the court by former Governor William Cahill and served from September 1973 until December 1994, when he reached the age of 70. On November 29, 2014, Clifford passed away in his sleep at his home in Chester Township, New Jersey.[1][2]
Education
Clifford received his undergraduate degree from Lehigh University and his J.D. degree from the Duke University School of Law in 1950.[1][2]
Career
Before he joined the New Jersey Supreme Court, Clifford served on former Governor William Cahill's cabinet as a commissioner of Banking and Insurance, as a commissioner of Insurance, and then as a commissioner of Institutions and Agencies. He also previously worked as an attorney in private practice and served as a law clerk to former New Jersey Supreme Court Justice William A. Wachenfeld.[1][2]
