I was born in Olton,Texas 1953, in Lamb county, and grow up as a migrant farm worker. As far back as we can trace our family, we have been in the State of Texas since 1576. I am married to Carmen Diaz Gauna. We have five children,15 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. I was stationed here in 1993, and decided to stay for the remainder of my enlistment, due to the affinity I have for the namesake "Corpus Christi", the "Body of Christ". I am a retired Navy Veteran, who taught as an Instructor for NJROTC at Flour Bluff High School. I am also a former Police Officer, founder of a nonprofit organization, and prior Notary Public for the State of Texas. I worked for private attorneys for Naturalization and Immigration, probate, and criminal cases. I was also a "union member of the AFL-CIO negotiations Community and a Shop Stewart." I was also a life member of the American Police Federation. I also worked as a multi-line Insurance agent for Farm Bureau, and American National Insurance Companies. The many jobs held added to my experience in knowledge to get the work done and the many people who I met and work with helped me along the way. I also ran for Mayoral candidate of a small city in 1977. As the next Nueces County Clerk, I will advocate for more voting locations and voter accessibility, such as large print instructions on mail-in ballots and improved curbside service for voters. I believe in LIFE, LIBERTY, the PURSUIT of HAPPINESS, AND THE RIGHT TO VOTE!
  • Freedom is a right and as, "We the People", no one can take or make it hard for you to vote.
  • Our common ground is mutual respect and a bond to uphold the Constitution of the United State of America.
  • The duties of the Clerk require a neutrality and respect to those they serve and to all citizen alike.
Making sure that all those qualified voters have access, and that the acceptability is demonstrative of the Clerk's Office for its citizen. No one clerk or the people of the clerk's office should impede the voter and should do everything within the limits of the law to accommodate the voter with integrity and execute their duties without party affiliation.
