Jenkins was a 2015 Democratic candidate for District 5 of the Charlotte City Council. He was defeated in the Democratic primary election on September 15, 2015.
Biography
Jenkins has worked since 2006 as a senior store keeper for the City of Charlotte.[1] Jenkins served in the military.[2]

A primary runoff was held on October 10, 2017, for the district 5 race. A candidate needed to receive over 40% of the vote in order to avoid a runoff election. All 11 seats on the city council were up for election. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was July 21, 2017.

The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was July 17, 2015.[4] In the District 5 race, incumbent John Autry defeated Scott Derek Jenkins in the Democratic primary and was unchallenged in the general election.[5][6]
