Primary: She was successful in the Democratic primary on March 4, 2014, receiving 59.8 percent of the vote. She competed against Susan Anderson.

Education

Mitchell received a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a J.D. from the University of Kansas School of Law.[4]

Career

Mitchell was a felony assistant district attorney in Dallas County prior to her judicial election in 2014. She previously served as chief juvenile prosecutor in Navarro County. Mitchell is also an adjunct professor of criminal law, contracts law, and criminal procedure at Kaplan College.[4]
