Victoria Virasingh was born and raised in Arlington, VA and is the daughter of immigrants from Ecuador and Punjabi Sikhs who escaped to Thailand. She attended Catholic school in Arlington and earned a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts from Stanford University on a full scholarship. After completing her education, she worked for Senator Diane Feinstein focusing on education and foreign affairs. Victoria then pursued a career in technology at Palantir where she founded and led the Future of Work team that brought her Germany. She returned to her home in Arlington to focus on community building, local politics and work at the nonprofit, Communities in Schools.
  • To serve the community that raised me by expanding access to opportunity for the store owner, the refugee and our elders who are struggling.
  • Homeownership is out of reach for the average family, our health care system is leaving people with mountains of debt, children are being left behind within our public school systems, and people working full-time are making wages that don’t cover the bills.
  • Healthcare is a human right. The federal government should provide Medicare for all for all citizens, green card holders, and permanent residents.
NEW LEADERSHIP FOR THE NEW ECONOMY

New Leadership for the New Economy means investing in our workers, our small businesses, and our community. This means supporting small business owners and working families and making sure our district is building a bridge towards the future.

HOUSING
Housing matters – a lot. Stable, affordable housing is critical for health and is tied to childhood academic performance. Home ownership often acts as a springboard for social mobility. And in an enduring legacy of the COVID-19 pandemic, the home has become much more than just a place of rest, a place of family, food, and friends. It has become an essential workplace and classroom. While the federal government is not in charge of local zoning decisions, policies at the federal level can facilitate and enable the creation of affordable and amenable living.

HEALTHCARE

Healthcare is a human right. We need to expand Medicare to include dental and vision. We need lower prescription drug prices. The federal government should provide Medicare for all citizens and green card holders. This is a baseline service that people should expect to have in return for paying taxes, simple as that.

My values and principles are different from the established members of Congress today. The characteristics that have driven to run are a culmination of the desire to serve the community that raised me.
My very first job was a babysitter, and I was 13 years old. Both of my parents were blue-collar workers and earned minimum wage; I contributed my earnings to the household because we had to make ends meet. I babysat off and on for six years while attending middle and high school. Additionally, I worked at Senator Diane Feinstein's office and the IRS as an intern.
I've been underestimated: 1) I've been told that this is not "my time". 2) That is not the right moment.
It is the body of government that allows the most amount of representation. Additionally, territories have representation in the House. In terms of legislation, all bills start in the house before reaching the Senate.

I believe we are lacking diversity of a lived experiences. I think we need more voices at the table that are reflective of everyday Americans.
I believe combatting misinformation; it undermines trust in our institutions. Misinformation poses a great threat to public health, the electoral process, and education.
Select Committee on the Climate Crisis, Judiciary, and Foreign Affairs Committee
I believe four years is the more suitable term length, and it should be capped at two terms.
We need term limits; it definitely needs to be changed. We have a system that rewards seniority and not new ideas and new faces. We need forward thinking as we evolve.
I spoke with an Indian-American voter who is politically engages with AAPI community. She was disillusioned by the Glenn Youngkin victory, and she, herself experienced a hate crime. After living in the U.S. for 35 years, she feels it's not a place for her anymore. She is planning on leaving in the next few years.
I remember when Halloween was the scariest night of the year. Now, it's election night.
I believe it's necessary. As a pragmatic progressive, I believe that there is more that unites us than divides us, and it is the job of an elected official to find common ground within one's own party and across the aisle.
My priorities as an elected representative would be 1) create a level playing field. 2) taxation of the wealthy and corporations. 3) estate tax. 4) taxation of cigarettes
