A Republican primary will take place on July 28 to fill a seat left vacant after a South Carolina state representative resigned following an investigation of alleged inappropriate conduct. Nelson Hardwick (R) relinquished his seat in House District 106, saying he wanted to focus on his health. However, his announcement came on the heels of an investigation by House Speaker Jay Lucas (R) that was launched after a female staffer filed a complaint against Hardwick.[1]
Russell Fry, Sanford Cox Graves, Tyler Servant and Roy Sprinkle face off Tuesday to determine who will move on to the special general election on September 15. A primary runoff election, if necessary, will take place on August 11. The seat is guaranteed to be filled by a Republican, as no Democrats filed for the open seat.[2][3][4]
