John Sullivan is the former Illinois Director of Agriculture. Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D) appointed Sullivan to this position on December 27, 2018, to take office in 2019.[1] Sullivan resigned from his position as Illinois Director of Agriculture on January 12, 2020.[2]
Sullivan is a former Democratic member of the Illinois State Senate, representing District 47 from 2003 to 2017. He did not seek re-election to the Illinois State Senate in 2016.
Sullivan was considered a potential candidate for the special election to Illinois' 18th Congressional District following the resignation of Rep. Aaron Schock. However, he did not run for the office.[3]
Biography
Sullivan earned his Bachelor's from Quincy College. His professional experience includes working as a real estate agent.

Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D) appointed Sullivan as the Illinois director of agriculture beginning in 2019.[1]

Sullivan represented District 47 in the Illinois State Senate from 2003 to 2017. He did not seek re-election to the Illinois State Senate in 2016.

Sullivan won re-election in the 2012 election for Illinois State Senate District 47. Sullivan was unopposed in the Democratic primary on March 20, 2012, and defeated Randy Frese (R) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[10][11][12]
