Doug Ommen is the current Iowa commissioner of insurance. He was appointed by Gov. Terry Branstad (R) in December 2016. Ommen served as interim commissioner until becoming commissioner on January 30, 2017. He previously served as deputy insurance commissioner.[1]

Ommen replaced incumbent Nick Gerhart, who retired at the end of 2016.
