J.E. Putnam
J.E. Putnam (b. April 18, 1940) is a former Republican member of the South Dakota State Senate, representing District 19 from 2011 to 2013.
Putnam served in the South Dakota State Senate from 1986 to 2002. He then joined the South Dakota State House of Representatives in 2003. He served in that position until 2011, representing the 19th District.
Putnam received his diploma from Armour High School in 1958.
Putnam has worked in the following jobs: Promotional Advertising, Personal Services, and Family Farming. He also served in the 817th Air Division, Strategic Air Command in the United States Air Force from 1960 to 1968.

Elections
2012
Putnam ran in the 2012 election for South Dakota House of Representatives District 19. Putnam and Roger Hofer were defeated by Kyle Schoenfish and District 25 incumbent Stace Nelson in the Republican primary on June 5. Alan Fenner ran unopposed in the Democratic primary. The general election took place on November 6, 2012. District 19 incumbents Frank Kloucek (D) and Edward Van Gerpen (R) did not run for re-election.[1][2]
2010
Putnam reached his term limit and thus was ineligible to run for re-election. Instead he ran for the District 19 seat of the South Dakota State Senate.
Putnam defeated Glennis Stern (D) in the November 2 general election.
