Below is a chart depicting the changes in the number of citizen initiatives on statewide ballots when comparing 2008 and 2010. All 26 initiative and referendum states are listed in the chart.
- It must be noted that 11 of the 26 I&R states do not have any citizen initiatives on their 2010 ballot.[1]

- 5 states have more citizen initiatives on their 2010 ballot than in 2008
- 10 states had no changes in their 2010 citizen initiative count when compared to 2008.

Legislative referral changes
Below is a chart depicting the changes in the number of legislative referrals on statewide ballots when comparing 2008 and 2010.
- Six states in the chart had ballot measures, legislative referrals or citizen initiatives, on the 2008 ballot, but did not have any measures on the 2010 ballot.[3]
- Seven states in the chart that had any kind of ballot measures on the 2010 ballot, did not have any measures on the 2008 ballot.[4]

- 21 states have more legislative referrals on their 2010 ballot than in 2008

- ↑ Wyoming and Mississippi have zero measures, of any kind, on the 2010 ballot. This leaves 24 out of the 26 I&R states with measures on the ballot, which includes both legislative referrals and citizen initiatives. By contrast, in 2008, of all of the 26 I&R states, Mississippi was the only state without citizen initiatives and legislative referrals.
- ↑ On June 28, 2010 LetOhioVote submitted a letter to Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner announcing the withdrawal of previously submitted petitions.
