James Clayborne is a Democratic member of the Illinois Senate. Clayborne has served in the Illinois Senate since 1995 and currently serves as the Majority Leader. Clayborne was re-elected in November of 2006 with his term expiring in 2010. Before becoming a Senator, Clayborne was the State's Attorney for St. Clair County and a private practice Attorney.

Clayborne graduated from Tennessee State with his Bachelor's degree and from Miami-Florida Law with his Juris Doctor degree.

James is married to Stacy Clayborne. They have two children and reside in Belleville, Illinois.
