Andrew T. Baxter is a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York. He was sworn into office on January 3, 2010, to an eight-year term that expired on January 2, 2018.[1]

Education

Judge Baxter received his A.B. degree in economics from Princeton University in 1978 and his J.D. degree from Harvard Law School in 1981.[2]

Professional career

Judge Baxter began his career as a private practice lawyer in Philadelphia. In 1984, he became an assistant U.S. attorney for the District of New Jersey. He then became a federal prosecutor in the Syracuse U.S. Attorney’s Office in 1988. At the time of his appointment to the U.S. District Court, he was the interim U.S. attorney for the Northern District of New York.[2]
