I am Bob Iyall, candidate for LD22 Senate. I believe I am uniquely qualified to be the next Senator. With a completed 37-year career in the building trades, I understand the importance of a solid foundation. This principle guided me through earning an MBA and becoming the CEO of the Medicine Creek Enterprise Corporation. In collaboration with our Board of Directors, we transformed the holding company into a thriving corporation that supports the Nisqually Indian Tribe's governmental operations and its members, ensuring sustainability for future generations.

In 2021, I was honored to be elected as a Commissioner at the Port of Olympia. In this role, I have championed initiatives that promote expansion, growth, and environmental restoration. I firmly believe that economic growth brings opportunities for living-wage jobs and that environmental restoration is crucial for sustaining life.

As Senator, I will bring this unique blend of skills, experience, and vision to the legislature, advocating for a collaborative governance style that utilizes a participatory approach to create solutions to Washington’s most pressing issues.
  • I believe in a collaborative governance approach. Brining all stakeholders to the table to create solutions beneficial to all who are affected.
  • Washington is among the few states that consistently ranks as both a top state for business and for workers. This state is among the world leaders in aerospace, agriculture and food manufacturing, forest products, clean technology, information and communication technologies, Life sciences, military and defense, and tourism. Let's use what we do well as a foundation to address the issues that remain today. Issues like affordable housing, behavioral health, transportation, and environmental restoration and sustainability.
  • Issues can not be solved solely by regulating and restricting. We must look to public/private partnerships that incentivize solutions. Collaboration by all stakeholders to understand the issue and creative planning to solve the issues that will benefit everyone. Utilizing entities like Tribal Nations, local governments, non-profits, citizen groups, and others can lead to successful solutions.
Environmental restoration and salmon recovery: WA state needs to keep restoration projects like fish passageway recovery, Puget Sound cleanup projects, and other restoration projects funded and on schedule.

Transportation: Projects that enhance or support traffic on the I-5 corridor must remain funded and on schedule. I-5 is a vital trade route connecting all cities in Western Washington. Alternative transportation projects are vital to reduce traffic congestion.

Expansion of Behavioral Health Services: Expand access to mental health services and substance abuse treatment programs. Prioritize early intervention and prevention efforts to address behavioral health issues before they escalate.
1. Integrity: Honesty and transparency are crucial. Voters need to trust that their representative is working in their best interests and is not influenced by corrupt practices or undue influence.

2. Accountability: Taking responsibility for actions and decisions. This means being answerable to constituents, upholding commitments, and being transparent about the reasoning behind legislative choices.
3. Pragmatism: A practical approach to solving problems. This involves finding common ground and working across the aisle to create effective and sustainable policies that benefit everyone.
4. Empathy: Understanding and sharing the feelings of others helps to address the needs of all. Ensuring that policies are inclusive and considerate of the diverse population.
5. Commitment to Public Service: A dedication to serving the public and improving the community's well-being. Prioritize the needs of the constituents over personal or partisan gains.
6. Open Door Policy: Being available to listen and open to considering different viewpoints. Communication helps in creating balanced policies that take into account various perspectives and needs.
7. Advocacy for Social Justice: Supporting equality and fighting against discrimination in all forms is important. This includes advocating for policies that promote fairness and equal opportunities for all citizens.
8. Environmental Responsibility: Recognizing the importance of restoring and protecting natural resources and supporting sustainable practices to ensure long-term ecological balance and health.
9. Support for Education and Healthcare: Prioritizing quality education and accessible healthcare for all citizens is fundamental. These areas are critical for the overall development and well-being of the community.

10. Fiscal Responsibility: Managing public funds wisely and efficiently is crucial. This includes creating budgets that reflect the priorities and needs of the community without unnecessary expenditure or waste.
I have always been encouraged to pursue entrepreneurship by my father. Growing up on a farm where we raised Hereford cattle, my first venture involved raising and selling my 4-H projects. I reinvested the earnings into subsequent projects, eventually saving enough to enjoy some personal rewards. Additionally, I was a founding member of the Lively Livestockers 4-H club.

My first job outside the farm was as a dishwasher at the Falls Terrace Restaurant in Tumwater during the summer between my sophomore and junior years at Tumwater High School. My passion for and involvement in sports prevented me from working during the school year.

My first day on the job was challenging. Dishwashing in a fast-paced, high-end restaurant was tough work. At the end of my first shift, I wiped down my counter, thinking I was finished, only for my co-worker to point out the mountain of pots and pans I had overlooked. It was a long night, but I learned a valuable lesson, and each subsequent shift became easier.
