|As the founding chair of the House Democratic Women's Caucus, we are focused on amplifying the voices of women and children in WV.
Formerly the executive director of the United Way of the Greenbrier Valley, my service and volunteerism has encompassed many areas: founding member of the Greenbrier Valley Flood Recovery and Relief Committee, founding chair of the Lewisburg Chocolate Festival, member of the Boy Scouts of America Troop 70 committee, Senior Warden St. James Episcopal Church, past member of the Greenbrier Valley Community Foundation board & past member of the Greenbrier Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau marketing advisory committee.
I've been a small business owner for 20 years and a public school teacher for 10 years.
- We need to make West Virginia a place where working families can thrive, not just survive. We need to focus on legislation that helps make West Virginia a destination state, not a departure state. We need to not only keep our people in the state, we need to bring more people to our state.
- Cindy supports the creation of an Earned Income Tax Credit to help low wage earners keep more of their money, so they can afford necessities such as child care and transportation. The EITC would positively impact more than 3,400 children in district 42 alone, putting an average of $332 back in their parents' pockets.
- Roads, bridges, a sound electrical grid and state-wide broadband access are crucial to the future of economic growth in this state. Accessible roads, a strong, reliable electrical grid and broadband internet access will bring businesses here, improving the economy and making it easier for the next generation to stay, work and raise their families here.
We know the greatest return on investment is when you invest in women and children. In West Virginia, nearly 50% of the labor force are women. When women earn better pay, they can better care for their families. When women do better, their children have better outcomes.
We need smart leaders who know how to collaborate. Leaders who will work across the aisle. Leaders with integrity and accountability. We need tough advocates who will always put West Virginians first.

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
