John D. Smack, III is a judge on the Orphans Court of Worcester County in Worcester County, Maryland.[1] He has served as a judge on the court since December 2006.[2] Smack ran for re-election to the Orphans Court of Worcester County in 2014, winning a term that expired on December 31, 2018.[3][4]

Primary: He was successful in the Republican primary on June 24, 2014, receiving 28.7 percent of the vote. He competed against Donald J. Stifler, Jack Shook, Jr., J. Franklin Knight, and incumbent Judge Linda M. Hess. Primary candidates competed for 3 seats. 
General: He faced J. Franklin Knight, and incumbent judges, Linda M. Hess and William D. Shockley in the general election on November 4, 2014, and won with 28.8 percent of the vote. Candidates competed for three open seats. [3][5] 

2010

Smack was re-elected to the Orphans Court of Worcester County (along with William D. Shockley and Linda M. Hess) in the general election on November 2, 2010, with 29.24% of the vote.[6]

Smack is a graduate of the Eastern Shore Criminal Justice Academy.[2]

Career

In addition to his judicial duties, Smack currently serves as the chief deputy sheriff for Worcester County.[2]
