David R. Farmer was a judge on Tennessee Court of Appeals, Western Section. He was appointed to the court by former Governor Lamar Alexander (R) in March 1986 and was elected the following August.[1] Farmer was retained by voters in August 1990, 1998, and 2006.[2] He retired from the court on August 31, 2014, at the end of his last term.[3]

Education

Farmer received his undergraduate degree from the University of Memphis in 1963 and his J.D. from the University of Memphis School of Law in 1966. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1966 until 1972.[2]

Career

Farmer began working for the Union Carbide Corporation in 1966. In 1968, he became a private practice lawyer in Jackson, Tennessee. Farmer worked in this capacity until he was appointed to the Tennessee Court of Appeals in March 1986.[2]
