- Infrastructure: Flooded roads, gigantic potholes, traffic backups, lack of bicycle lanes/walking paths! Our population is growing so fast in Charleston County and Colleton County that the existing infrastructure cannot keep up. My experience as a town administrator, combined with my business and economics background, make me uniquely qualified to evaluate current spending and management on infrastructure. This will ensure that the appropriate funds are budgeted and managed well so that we, in district 116, get our fair share.
- Education: We have a teacher shortage. Lack of teachers means classrooms that are too large and poor teachers still teaching. My son-in-law is a K-12 teacher. I teach economics and marketing for a large university and know first-hand the tragedy of poorly educated students. I will work hard to ensure that when a student graduates from high school, they are prepared to either enter the workforce or enter college.
- Economy: I am sure you have bought food lately. Wow! Prices have really increased. The pandemic and supply chain are being blamed. Charleston’s ports have a record number of ships anchored waiting to unload. Add to that, a shortage of truckers. Does knowing why prices are high make you feel better? Probably not, so let’s work together and encourage more local initiatives such as farmers markets and food co-ops. Buy local. Make a difference.
