Edward Southard
Edward L. Southard was a 2016 Republican candidate for District 100 of the South Carolina House of Representatives. He withdrew from the ballot before the Republican primary.[1]
Southard served in the South Carolina House of Representatives, representing District 100 from 2011 to April 27, 2016. He resigned amid a sexual harassment allegation.[2] He was first elected to the chamber in a special election on September 27, 2011. The special election held to fill the vacancy created when C. David Umphlett, Jr. (R) died on May 29, 2011, after a battle with pancreatic cancer.[3]
Biography
Southard worked as the Berkeley County Planning Commission Chairman and owner of Cooper River Construction.[4]

Elections for the office of South Carolina House of Representatives will take place in 2016. The primary election for District 100 took place on July 19, and the general election was held held on November 8, 2016. The candidate filing deadline was July 5, 2016. A new primary election was scheduled after the only candidate that filed withdrew from the race.
Incumbent Sylleste Davis defeated Tonia Aiken-Taylor in the South Carolina House of Representatives District 100 general election.[5][6]

2014
Elections for all 124 seats in the South Carolina House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election took place on June 10, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 30, 2014. Incumbent Edward Southard ran unopposed in the Republican primary and was unchallenged in the general election.[8][9][10]
2012
Southard ran unopposed in the Republican primary on June 12 and won in the general election on November 6, 2012.[11][12]
2011
Southard defeated Tonia Aiken-Taylor (D) in the September 27, 2011 special election. District 100 is in Berkeley County.[13]
