I am a husband and a parent, and I have been a teacher in Arizona for over 20 years.

For those 20 plus years I have witnessed the majority party in Arizona steadily underfund our public schools. My opponents have regularly voted to fund incarceration instead of education. Arizona ranks dead last in teacher salaries and next to last in per pupil funding. We must not continue down this dark path. Our kids deserve better.

Public policy needs to be formed through robust debate where all voices are heard. Arizona is at the bottom of the barrel in childhood poverty rates, healthcare, education funding, etc. All of these issues have been ignored in our last quarter century of one party rule.
I look up to some of my former teacher colleagues. While their names wouldn't be known they were some of the finest humans a person could ever know.
A legacy of bipartisanship that moved the state forward.
Delivering newspapers as a young child for a summer.
Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli. It was a favorite of my fifth graders and delved into subjects important to society and generated great discussion.
The Senate has only 30 members compared to the House's 60 which forces those members to be much more open to working with colleagues from across the aisle.
It is extremely important. You need 31 votes to move legislation out of the House.
I really admire Harry Mitchell. He was also a teacher and always worked for what was best for the citizens rather than his re election. He voted for the ACA knowing it would cause him to lose his seat.
I heard recently from a constituent about a COVID issue. She had written and called her current office holders but was not given any information. She then reached out to me and I was able to put her in touch with a House member from another district who took the time to answer her questions.

What would be your top three priorities, if elected?

1) Fully fund public education. 2) Unmask dirty money 3) Rid/reduce private prisons

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I am currently in my 23rd year of teaching in our public schools and my passion remains in education policy.

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

Being a representative is not a suggestion; it is a promise. It is not a job title but a job description. I plan to lead with integrity and inclusiveness.
