Fairbanks North Star Borough School District is located in eastern Alaska in Fairbanks North Star Borough. The borough seat is Fairbanks. The borough was home to 99,357 residents in 2014, according to the United States Census Bureau.[3] Fairbanks North Star Borough School District was the third-largest school district in Alaska, serving 14,378 students during the 2012-2013 school year.[4]

Demographics

Fairbanks North Star Borough outperformed the rest of Alaska in terms of higher education achievement in 2013. The United States Census Bureau found that 29 percent of borough residents aged 25 years and older had attained a bachelor's degree compared to 27.5 percent of state residents. The median household income in the borough was $69,223 compared to $70,760 for the state of Alaska. The poverty rate in the borough was 8.4 percent compared to 9.9 percent for the entire state.[3]
