I’m Jen Seegmiller, a family nurse practitioner, educator, and mother of six, dedicated to helping others live healthy, happy, self-sufficient lives. Believing that government should not attempt to do for others, that which they can do for themselves, I will represent you with civil discourse and principled reasoning. We need smart government, not big government.
  • Idaho's Department of Health and Welfare spent $336,759,900 in FY 2021, mostly to fund Medicaid, yet health outcomes have not improved. This needs to change. It starts with good preventive care policies and patient education. Healthcare should be accessible, affordable, transparent, science and ethics based. While these are ideals we strive for, achievement is often difficult. Rural areas, such as found in much of Idaho, have particular challenges with access. Burdensome overregulation and cuts in reimbursements have caused many private medical practices to go out of business. As a family nurse practitioner, I understand the complexities of healthcare and want to be part of a sustainable solution for Idaho without government mandates..
  • Public education was a founding principle for this nation, moving us from an age where only the wealthy could afford to study. I believe in the transformative power of education, which enlightens and expands the mind beyond individual experience. Ongoing government support of education must be approached with wisdom and nonpartisan altruistic intent. I support and will defend quality public education, school choice, and parental rights in deciding how to educate their children.
  • Many Idahoans are struggling from the effects of government policies imposed over the past two years. People are feeling strain from increasing expenses and eroded savings. The health of our national economy is closely tied to government policies, which unfortunately, have gone badly awry with inflation rates now hovering around 8% up from 1.23% in 2020. Idahoans need low taxes and steady living-wage jobs with available housing, goods, and services to take care of their families. I will fight for state policies that encourage entrepreneurship and innovation by eliminating unnecessary hurdles, keeping taxes low, and minimizing government regulation.
America's free market has brought about some of the most innovative healthcare technologies in the world with lifesaving treatments not even imagined just decades ago. While technology is miraculous, ultimately, healthcare is about people. Caring for others who are sick or otherwise afflicted, for me is both a job and a calling.

I do not support government mandated health insurance, unfunded federal healthcare mandates, or a reactive care instead of preventative care model. Many of the medical conditions that are driving uncontrolled healthcare spending are actually preventable, yet very little is done to encourage or teach healthy habits. This must change.

I support free-market solutions, increased accessibility, sustainable Medicaid and Medicare policies, and preventative, patient-based approaches to all of the healthcare issues we face.
I believe that personal integrity, love of country, and support of US Constitution and state constitution are important in an elected official.
I'm a service-oriented, hard working pragmatist who gets things done. I genuinely like people and will be able to represent their interests in Boise.
Balancing family and professional goals has been challenging, but I figured it out. I have a wonderful marriage, six amazing children, and a fulfilling career.
Idaho’s rapid population growth has resulted in distinct challenges for housing, jobs, healthcare, and infrastructure. We need to address this growth with a comprehensive view of the situation and work with local and state entities to develop strategic plans to accommodate this growth in sustainable ways to support a healthy economy and provide opportunity for Idahoans.
It's necessary to build relationships with other legislators in order to get legislation passed. It also makes for better public policy. The process of consensus building acts as a refining influence where considerations that may not have been evident initially to come to light and are incorporated into the final bill.
I would like to serve on Health and Welfare and Joint Finance and Appropriations Committee.
