Opioid Crisis

  • In order to address the substance abuse that is a growing issue on the South Shore, and throughout the commonwealth, we must provide better support and recovery services for those afflicted as well as work to prevent the development of new addictions. Substance abuse is increasingly recognized as a medical or behavioral condition that must be addressed through means of intervention and prevention rather than solely through criminal punishment. Additionally, we must work to educate our youth to prevent this growing issue and encourage them to seek help.
  • Furthermore, our first responders should be trained and equipped with Narcan, a drug that saves lives in the event of an overdose.

Seniors

  • I plan to be a strong voice for our senior citizens. Protecting families starts with seniors who have built our communities, and I will work every day to help them live with security and dignity. I will advocate providing safe and affordable housing, quality health care, and affordable and reliable transportation to benefit the seniors of our community.

Higher Education

  • We must work to make the opportunity for higher education more attainable by advocating policies that remove the burden from students and their families, and freeze tuition at state schools. I will work to make these community colleges and state universities, which are tremendous resources already at our disposal, more accessible to all members of our community.

Education

  • I understand just how important the quality of education is to each child. Making sure our schools and teachers have access to the resources and the tools they need will be a top priority for me, and I will work hard in the state legislature to ensure our public schools and children have the funding they deserve.

  • Should a parent need to take time after the birth or adoption of a child, or should their child fall ill, parents have to fear losing their job to take care of a child in these circumstances. I will advocate for sick and parental leave on Beacon Hill.[1]
