Candidate Connection

Katherine Wilder completed Ballotpedia's Candidate Connection survey. The survey questions appear in bold and are followed by Wilder's responses.

What would be your top three priorities, if elected?

Strengthening labor and the middle class. Fighting the opioid crisis. Agriculture.;Strengthening labor and the middle class. Fighting the opioid crisis. Agriculture.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I'm a proud member of the United Steelworkers and I believe union jobs make for stronger communities and healthier families. We need to expand Medicaid so people suffering from opioid addiction can seek treatment. We need to fight the skyrocketing cost of prescription drugs. Manufacturing and agricultural products have been the backbone of our economy in Somerset County. I'll support legislation that strengthens manufacturing, forest products, and agriculture.

Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

My all time favorite politician is Senator Margaret Chase Smith. She grew up in Skowhegan, Maine and is most famous for her Declaration of Conscience speech she gave in the US Senate.

Are you interested in running for a different political office (for example, the U.S. Congress or governor) in the future?

No.
